The Act of Killing – Guardian film prize

The Act of Killing wins top prize at first Guardian Film Awards.
Joshua Oppenheimer’s study of 1960s Indonesian death squads wins best film, beating Oscar winner 12 Years a Slave.

I look forward to seeing this film and am glad there are awards outside of the Oscars where the public can vote and have their say. Pleased Cate Blanchett won an Academy and a nod at the Guardian awards. She got my vote for the gruelling performance she gave in Blue Jasmine.
