Shawshank Redemption – the stage play.

Fantastic – a standing ovation at the Marlowe in Canterbury. Amazingly, the style of it had resonances for the play I’ve just written: The Magic of Mathematics based onshawshank the life of Ada Lovelace. The play is now going into rehearsals and production. And seeing Shawshank – the pace of the scenes and the cut to black and use of music to keep the atmosphere – made me realise the conversion of my WW1 screenplay Spooks, to a stage play was very, very possible. Interesting times.

  1. The Shawshank Resemption was or is the favourite of my nephew Nik RENOUF who is now in his 3rd year of drama degree at Canterbury Uni… Might be a good connection for both of you??? By the way your play sounds wonderful! Next stop BBC radio 4?! XxT
